Scientific care and recovery process after Midface surgery.

Midface rejuvenation surgery, although a minor procedure lasting approximately 60-90 minutes, involves intervention in the cheek and under-eye areas, which have a rich network of blood vessels and nerves. Therefore, post-operative care at home plays a crucial role, directly affecting the time it takes for swelling to subside and the final contouring of the face.

Wound care and reducing swelling and bruising.

  • Lower eyelid hygiene: In the first few days, the lower eyelid area will have discharge and eye pus. You need to use a clean cotton swab soaked in saline solution (0.9% NaCl) to gently clean the stitches daily. Absolutely keep the wound dry; do not let tap water come into contact with the eye and cheek area until the stitches are removed.

  • Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling: During the first 48 hours, the cheeks and under the eyes will experience mild swelling and bruising. Apply cold compresses (wrap ice in a plastic bag and cover with gauze/a clean towel) around the cheeks and eyes. From the third day onwards, switch to warm compresses to stimulate blood circulation and help the bruising subside.

Dietary restrictions and exercise habits.

  • Limit strong facial expressions: For the first 2-3 weeks, avoid laughing too loudly, opening your mouth too wide, chewing hard food, or crying loudly. Strong facial movements can strain and affect the stitches and the newly fixed cheek muscles.

  • Correct sleeping position: Always sleep on your back with a pillow higher than your chest for at least the first two weeks. Absolutely do not sleep on your stomach or side, as pressure on the cheeks can cause swelling or misalignment of the facial shape.

  • Avoid contact and makeup: Do not touch, rub, or massage the cheek and eye area with your hands. Completely avoid applying makeup, cleansers, or moisturizers to the mid-face area until your doctor gives you permission.

Proper nutrition and adherence to appointments.

  • Diet: Prioritize soft, liquid, and easy-to-chew foods such as porridge and soup in the first few days to avoid straining the jaw muscles. Absolutely avoid foods that can easily cause keloid scarring, allergies, or pus formation, such as water spinach, beef, seafood, sticky rice, chicken, and stimulants (alcohol, beer, tobacco).

  • Medication and follow-up appointments: Use antibiotics, painkillers, and anti-inflammatory medication as prescribed. Return to the aesthetic clinic for suture removal after 7-10 days and attend regular follow-up appointments so the doctor can monitor your recovery progress.
